We removed an old bath without damaging ANY tiling, we then installed a new bath as a replacement. Not a single tile damaged – that’s just how good we are!
We were given instructions to remove the bath but not to damage ANY tiling. It was a tricky job but we managed to successfully remove the old bath, install the new bath and not have to re-tile.
We achieved this by cutting the old bath out using an oscillating saw (Oscillating tools are great for a few specific jobs like removing grout, making drywall cutouts and undercutting trim for flooring installation), removed the old fixings and then swapped out the old bath for a new one.
Take a look at the picture of the old bath, we removed that bath carefully and as a result didn’t damage a single tile.
Here is a quick summary of the process we go through when removing a bath.
- Removed the surrounds and then the bath panel from the bath itself.
- We turn off the water at the source and drain any water that may still be in the pipes via the taps around the premises.
- Disconnect the waste from the very bottom of the bath tub and proceed to remove all fittings.
- Unscrew any brackets that were holding the bath to the wall. Including bath feet.
- Detach all other fittings including taps.
- We then remove the bath using intelligence and a healthy dose of elbow grease whilst making sure we do not damage any of the surrounding environment.
- Ensured the replacement bath has the ability to be earthed!
